~ Wishing I could run.
~ Bitching to anyone who will listen about how I can’t run.
~ Lots of pushups.
~ Working crazy hours. Finishing up old contracts, starting on new ones.
~ Drinking heavily. Especially this weekend. Good lord.
~ Stretching, icing, taking Advil.
~ Getting a new cat. Her name’s Lucy. She’s cool.
~ Trying to figure out if I have enough money to go sailing to the Bahamas with my friends next month.
~ Gaining weight.
~ Planning out next year’s race schedule. I’m thinking Boston, Pikes Peak, then the JFK 50 Miler.

What was the official diagnosis? ITB? Or are you just taking some time off (perhaps forced) and seeing if it gets better?
No official diagnosis yet — I’m headed to the doctor tomorrow. But, I’m pretty sure it was (is) an IT Band issue.
Right on. That was pretty much my regimen this spring too, also ITB-related.
I also did a ton of core stuff during my 6-week convalescence – crunches, v-ups, planks, you name it. Some yoga. This weekend I raced again for the first time since April, and I really felt the core training help me keep it together.
The foam roller also makes things a lot better. Today I feel pretty good. I bet you recover a lot faster than me. Good luck!
I’m laughing because I can completely relate, sans the new cat. When I took time off for my IT band issues last fall, I was in that same place. I empathize and sympathize.
