About Badwater

The Badwater Ultramarathon is a 135 mile running race held each July. It starts in Badwater, California at -282 feet elevation and ends at Whitney Portal, an elevation of 8,360 feet. In addition to the extreme distance and vertical gains, runners have to deal with temperatures that routinely reach past 120 °F. The combination of all three make Badwater one of the toughest, if not the toughest, races in the world.
